This is the Place

In 1847, upon entering the Salt Lake Valley, the Mormon leader, Brigham Young reportedly said, “This is the (right) place” to which the pioneers responded by building their settlements, creating their Zion, their temporary heaven on earth.

This past week, I went for my first cup of coffee at a lovely cafe on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Ost Cafe. This entire week, I have been on a full-on meditation about the concept of heaven. It’s just that good.

I’ve also been asking the question, “Did Brigham Young use a compass?” Not that I really care because there’s no way the entire Mormon population will fit into Ost Cafe. I’m just happy to have an amazing latte, a comfy chair, and be surrounded by lovely people while I wait for the second coming…then again…comfy chair…lovely people…amazing latte…I’m already in heaven!!!! Yippeee!!!
